BATH SPORTS AWARDS
We were over the moon to be finalists at The Bath Sports Awards earlier this week for Coaches of the Year. Even though we didn't win, it was a fantastic evening where we were able to share Nova Sports & Coaching's work with many.
We love the work we do and are so grateful to everyone who supports us. Most of all though, we are lucky to work with so many fun and talented young people and adults!

THE LAUNCH OF THE BATH BOCCIA LEAGUE
We had such a fantastic start to The Bath Boccia League 2018/19.
All teams played fantastically and we enjoyed some very close games. All points will now go into a league table which will be shared with teams later this week.
For November's tournament though- the ultimate winners were The Greenhill Grenadiers! Congratulations!
We look forward to seeing everyone again in February 2019 for the next league tournament.
Portishead Primary School Boccia Programme
Nova introduced 90 children from Portishead Primary School to boccia. There was a lot of fun and games in preparation for their big Year 4 tournament held in the final week!
This is part of Nova's Inclusive PE Programme. We are broadening the knowledge in mainstream schools of inclusive physical activity provision for their SEND students. If you know a school who may be interested in this, please tell them to get in touch!
Bath Indoor Wheelchair Tennis Championships
What a fantastic event at the Bath Indoor Wheelchair Tennis Championships, and so pleased so many people came to try ambulant and wheelchair tennis!
A big shout out to pupils of Three Ways School for some excellent hitting and to everyone else who came and had a go.
If you weren't able to come, we are doing loads more tennis over the next few months. This will include wheelchair tennis taster sessions!
WHEELCHAIR TENNIS IS GROWING IN BANES!
RACE RUNNING TASTER SESSIONS
Across the summer, exclusive race running taster sessions have been happening in Bath to help set-up a regular club in Bath. Hosted at Odd Down and Culverhay Leisure Centre, children who have mobility issues got the chance to use the unique frames which can help them with exercise, independence and in some cases how to walk for the first time.
Look out for a new club coming soon, open to families!
NEW GRANT FOR INCLUSIVE SPORT
Frome town Council has awarded Nova Sports and Coaching £1,953 to help give children and adults with disabilities access to new, exciting and inclusive sports in the area.
We are extremely grateful for the grant which will see projects like wheelchair basketball, powerchair football, inclusive sports training and more be delivered in Frome.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE COLLEGE ATHLETICS PROJECT
Thanks to Gloucestershire County Council, September 2018 sees the beginning of a brand new, comprehensive athletics project with the ever fantastic students of Gloucestershire College.
Weekly athletics sessions, holiday provision and an Athletics Festival will see around 100 students with additional needs benefit from a programme of physical activity.
SHORT BREAKS FAMILY FUN DAY
On a hot summers weekend, Nova spent the day in Street delivering inclusive athletics to a multitude of families and children.
Across the day over 400 people attended, with families coming from all corners of the county- Taunton, West Somerset, South Somerset and Mendip to name a few!
We saw some heroic hurdlers, brilliant bean-bag throwers, and next-level nerf launching. We also signed up some new children to our holiday camps, so we will see a lot of you again soon!
FOOTBALL AT WESTHAVEN
For 16 weeks, Nova delivered lunchtime football sessions in Westhaven School in Weston-Super-Mare. What was particularly exciting was that these sessions directly lead to a record number of girls playing for the school's football team! Nova helped facilitate an environment that was fun and encouraged everyone to join in and play.
BOCCIA AT KILMERSDON
Kilmersdon CofE Primary School invited Nova into their school to run a boccia programme for their Year 6 class. A mix of fun games and training saw the programme conclude with a competitive tournament which was decided by the last throw! Rife with tension and drama, it was fantastic to see how inclusive the school and the students were. We hope to be back in the new school year!
ATHLETICS FESTIVAL - GLOUCESTERSHIRE COLLEGE
We had exactly 101 students from Gloucestershire College come to Cheltenham Rugby Club for their inaugural end of year Athletics Festival. Competing in their Houses, different stations consisted on running, jumping and throwing, with a finale of multiple relay races! The students gave us such positive feedback for the day and we have already booked in next years event!
GLOUCESTERSHIRE SPECIAL SCHOOLS ATHLETICS COMPETITION
A big congratulations to all of the students who took part in our Gloucestershire Special Schools Athletics Competition! We had around 90 children from 5 different schools come and compete at the Prince of Wales Athletics Stadium in Cheltenham.
The Milestone School gained the most points across all the events and were deserved winners to take home the trophy!
NOVA AT THE 'TRY GAMES' - BATH
We were invited along to deliver inclusive sport at Three Ways School's Try Games event in June. On a hot day we had lots of athletics equipment out, as well as a bowls set, for children and adults to pick up and have a go with. Ably assisted by Team Bath Tribe and Sports Development, we had hundreds of nerf vortex's thrown and hundreds more hurdles jumped over. The event was extremely successful and we have now started an after school club at the school!
INCLUSIVE SPORTS TRAINING
In March, Alex and Jenny ran their first Inclusive Sports Training workshop to a cohort of sports students at Weston College. Across the session, they learned about how they could cater their own coaching sessions for children and adults with disabilities. This valuable workshop helps to theoretically and practically develop understanding and acceptance through sport. If you are interested in this training for your school then please contact Alex to enquire.
ATHLETICS CAMP WITH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COLLEGE
During the Easter Holidays, Gloucestershire College had an exclusive athletics training camp over in Cheltenham. Despite the wet weather, there were a lot of Personal Bests and even more fun- we cant wait to do it again!
